I bought the OnePlus 9 Pro more than a year ago and I have to say, I’m proud of the investment that I made. Even though the OnePlus 13 was just recently got announced, I still think I can make do with the 9 Pro for at least another year.
Known to be the best camera phone made by OnePlus, today let’s keep the 9 Pro in focus and talk about why it is still relevant even today. Without any further ado, let’s get started!
The Brilliant Camera
As I mentioned earlier, this model was popular for being the “camera phone”, so it will only make sense that I talk about the phone’s camera first. This was the first ever OnePlus phone to feature a collaboration with Hasselblad. Hasselblad is known for its cinematic camera, so the collaboration gave a nice touch to the colors.
Not only that, but the camera also has great clarity and the AI features in the camera help in enhancing the colors, giving your pictures the vibrant effect that you always wanted. So, if you are a person who enjoys mobile photography, then this phone is definitely for you.
Ample Storage Space
Another thing that had me sold on the OnePlus 9 Pro was the storage space.
The phone comes with internal 256GB storage, which is more than enough for someone who doesn’t have many pictures and videos on their phone. Even in my case, I have more songs on my phone than I have pictures and videos, which is why I believe 256GB is enough for me.
If you feel that 256GB is still too little, you can get an OTG (On-the-go) storage device so that you can store additional media in it. Better yet, you can get Google One storage so that you can upload your photos and videos to Google Photos and clear them out from your phone.
A Stellar Screen Display
I was taken aback when I saw the phone’s display for the first time. It has a bright display with vibrant colors, making the phone no less than a pleasure to look at. I remember watching videos on Spider-Man 2 on YouTube and all the effects and colors looked amazing. It really made me wish that I could play the game on the phone honestly.
The screen is also great if you wish to stream content on it. For instance, whenever I have to watch anything on Netflix, I always use my phone instead of my laptop. To make the most out of my streaming experience, I pair up my phone with Xfinity Internet, ensuring that I don’t come across that buffering wheel while I stream my favorite shows.
An Optimum Amount of RAM
When it comes to a phone’s performance, it has a lot to do with the amount of RAM that it offers. In case of the OnePlus 9 Pro, it gives 12GB of RAM paired up with 256GB of storage! There was a time when a laptop used to have 12GB of RAM, so this phone’s performance is surprisingly on par with a laptop!
The higher RAM ensures that your phone can multitask as smoothly as possible. For instance, there have been multiple instances when I have navigated through 8-10 apps on my phone at a time and it would still function without any lags. So, if you are looking for superfast functionality, then the OnePlus 9 Pro can give that to you!
The Software Version
This is one thing about the OnePlus 9 Pro that is a bit of a letdown. The OnePlus 9 Pro only updates until Android 14.0, which is still pretty decent.
The latest released update is OxygenOS 15.0, which is just one point ahead of 14.0. Despite that, the OnePlus 9 Pro still ensures brilliant functionality and is as smooth as it could be. This is yet another reason to consider getting the OnePlus 9 Pro!
A Bonus Pointer
If you wish to stay up-to-date with OnePlus phones, then you can consider switching to a OnePlus 11 or 12 after a year or two. Given how amazing the specs of the 9 Pro are, the phone can easily last you that time before you have to make a switch!
